Purpose of the Journal

The Canadian Journal of Tropical Geography (CJTG) aims to encourage the exchange of ideas between geographers in Canada and elsewhere as well as the dissemination of knowledge relating to tropical geographical spaces. It showcases the critical thinking on tropical spaces at the level of both physical and human geography. Its purpose is to: 1) Expand on an international scale the scope of knowledge and discussion on tropical geographical spaces; 2) Disseminate research on tropical geography; 3) Promote theoretical understanding of the tropical space; and 4) Present theoretical and practical models as well as conceptual tools applied to solving problems in tropical spaces.

The CJTG was created to speed up the dissemination of research work and promote discussion between researchers and practitioners in the tropical world. To this end – that is, to expand the exchange of ideas, methods and results, as well as ensure a high scientific standard – the Journal will appear in French and English, submit articles for review by an international editorial board and publish, along with scientific articles, some reading abstracts (under Book Review) and opinion pieces (under Debates).

For as long as it can be done, the Journal will remain free and open access to both readers and authors.
