Review
Any article received by the Journal is screened by the executive board in order to ensure primarily that the content is in keeping with the goals and mission of the Journal. Following this step, if it is successful, the article is sent in strict anonymity to at least two reviewers whose task will be to conduct an objective assessment of the article based on its contribution to the advancement of tropical geography and especially the understanding of the tropical environment. Reports submitted by the reviewers are deemed acceptable if they contain detailed and substantiated comments about the originality of the content, consistency of the methodology used, relevance of results and importance of the sources used. If the articles are submitted with maps, tables and graphs, these items will be reviewed based on infographic standards as well as linguistic standards to ensure that the quality of English is acceptable.
The author (or authors) will be notified as soon as possible of the decision (acceptance, acceptance after minor revisions or major revisions, rejection) made by the Journal’s editorial office based on the comments and recommendations of the reviewers. The decision to publish an article as well as the conditions of publication are the responsibility of the editorial office. The rejection of an article will be followed by a written justification.
A manuscript will be accepted for publication or rejected only if two reviewers unanimously recommend it or two out of three reviewers recommend it. In cases where the two reviewers recommend respectively that the article be accepted or rejected, the editorial office will submit the article to a third reviewer.
In the event a third reviewer cannot be found, the editorial office will be responsible for making an appropriate decision.
Requests for review are based on the opinion of the reviewers. To this end, the editorial office will provide the author with an anonymous copy of the report of each reviewer. More importantly, the report must be sufficiently precise and relevant to fully justify the decision or, at least, reasonably guide the author who has been required to revise his or her article.
Accepted papers are posted online. They are also available in PDF format and freely accessible on the Journal’s website.
